Product Description |
| VitaMedica's Glucosamine Sulfate is indicated as an adjunctive agent for patients with osteoarthritis (OA). Glucosamine is a naturally occurring compound that plays an important role in joint health because it stimulates the manufacture of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) - key structural components of cartilage. Glucosamine Sulfate is a naturally occurring compound known as an amino sugar. Amino sugars are key constituents of larger compounds called glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and glycoproteins, which enable cells in tissues to hold together. They are necessary for the construction and maintenance of virtually all connective tissues and lubricating fluids in the body - tendons, ligaments, cartilage, bone matrix, skin, joint fluid, intestinal lining, and mucous membranes. Normally we generate sufficient amounts of glucosamine in our bodies to form the various compounds needed to generate connective tissue and healthy cartilage. But gradually with aging, the rate at which our body produces glucosamine begins to gradually change. This loss can also be accelerated by increased athletic activity, injuries, inflammatory disorders, and other chronic degeneration. In such situations our bodies may not be able to keep up with the demand for glucosamine, leading to a decrease in the amount of GAGs produced. This can lead to a decrease in the amount of protective lubricating substances such as synovial fluid, which cushions our joints, and protects them from damage. In essence, more glucosamine is needed, but less is produced. |

Worked for me!

I was recommended Vita Medica Glucosamine by my orthopedic surgeon for my knee. I have been taking it for about 3 month and have noticed a reduction in the swelling I used to get in the joint and along with chiropractic work on the joint I am feeling as good as I have in 10 years -- considering I have virtually no cartlidge left on the outside of the knee joint.
Unlike other glocosamine supplements I have taken before, there is no stomach upset and no multiple doses per day. I simply take two tablets in the morning and go.
