Pain Relief for Osteoarthritis
|
| Review Date: January 19, 2008 |
| Reviewer: Diego Alban, |
The trick to making these work is to drink plenty of water throughout the day. (Hyaluronic acid works with water to create a natural gel-like substance that fills the joints and relieves pain.) Follow the directions on the bottle, drink plenty of water throughout the day and you should start to see some results within two weeks if you have joint pains from osteoarthritis.
I started looking into joint pains when I got tired of hearing all the horror stories from my extended family and their friends regarding knee pains. I finally found out that oral hyaluronic acid can be used to treat osteoarthritis pains and is more effective than the usual glucosamine-chondroitin combo.
I gave these to my mom who was skeptical of their effectiveness. They worked great and her doubt faded away quickly. The clicking sound her joints made when she walked went away. She no longer has stiffness and pain in the knee when waking up in the morning.
She also started recommending it to her friends at work. Most of whom are post-menopausal and have joint pains. Usually it's knee pain. They also are amazed so much of the pain goes away. Some of them have tried various expensive over-the-counter supplements that never gave them these kinds of results. Any pain left was treated with vitamin c, d3, magnesium citrate, and omega-3 fish oil capsules, which Amazon also sells.
Take a lower dose or consult your doctor if you have lymph edema, are taking blood pressure drugs, blood thinners, or taking anti-inflammatory medications (aspirin, Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Aleve, acetaminophen, etc.) before taking any hyaluronic acid.
Some misconceptions: Hyaluronic acid might not work on lower back pain or pain from rheumatoid arthritis since those are different conditions and are not related osteoarthritis. Research vitamin deficiency that leads to lower back pain (Methyl B-12, magnesium citrate, D3, comfrey ointment) and immune boosters for rheumatoid arthritis (D3, C, omega-3 fish oils capsules). Make sure you find info. based on the latest studies. Most of the data around the Net is based on out-dated studies with low-doses that are are usually ineffective.

UPDATE:
For lower back pain:
* Methyl B-12 Now Foods Brain B-12, 100 Lozenges / 1000mcg (Pack of 2)
* magnesium citrate or magnesium malate Source Naturals Magnesium Malate, 1250 mg, Tablets, 360 tablets
* Vitamin D3 at least 5,000 i.u. Life Extension Vitamin D3, 5000 IU (60 capsules)
* Res-Q Ointment (Comfrey Ointment) Res-Q Ointment .6 oz or Herb Pharm Comfrey Herb Pharm Comfrey 1 oz ( Twelve Pack)
For rheumatoid arthritis take immune boosters like:
* Vitamin D3 at least 5,000 i.u. Life Extension Vitamin D3, 5000 IU (60 capsules)
* Magnesium citrate or magnesium malate Source Naturals Magnesium Malate, 1250 mg, Tablets, 360 tablets
* Omega-3 fish oil at least 2,000 mg per day Carlson Laboratories - Super Omega-3, 130 softgels
Don't let the doctors give you doses that are too low:
I've been taking 5,000+ i.u. of vitamin D3 without any side effects for the past year. I get it by taking "30 Minutes of Sunshine". (Amazon does not sell it. It's at 30MinutesOfSunshine [dot] com) Others take 10,000 i.u. daily. So far, no one has died and no one has had any side effects. However, most of their rheumatoid hand pain goes away and they stop getting colds. In other words, they have great immune systems. This is why doctors want you to "be careful" with vitamins and take their dangerous drugs instead.
Doctors are still recommending 400 to 4,000 i.u. for Vit. D3. That amount is for children, not adults. It takes doctors a long time to catch up to the latest studies. They get away with it because all this info. is boring to read. The Vitamin D Council's website has up-to-date info. (VitaminDCouncil [dot] org) |

| I noticed my joints ached less within a month of taking this product. The combination of glucosamine, chondroitin, and msm is actually superior to some of the other supplements I have tried. I take the recommended dosage of 2 tablets twice a day. I would definitely recommend this product if you have joint pain. |

| I've tried various brands of chondroitin/glucosamine over the years and never really noticed much improvement for my knees discomfort or more recently my right hip pain. Although now I've almost finished this bottle, it was about 2 weeks after I started taking this supplement that I happily noticed I could cross my right leg over my left knee w/o any right hip pain nor was there any bilateral knee pain. I also noticed if I forgot to take it for 1-2 days the right hip pain came back w/ the same intensity, although the knee discomfort was still considerably less. I also started taking Source Natural's Turmeric and Chlorella around the same time. I just ordered a second bottle of this product and their Pycnogenol Complex (to see if it helps me to decrease hot flashes as one reviewer noted). I also like that the tablets have a mint flavor and hope this company will start using this flavoring w/ all their products. I do not think I had a placebo effect and will continue to faithfully use this product. I'm also in the process of trying New Chapter's Zyflamed in combination w/ other anti-oxidants w/ the hope of eradicating or at least inhibiting systemic inflammation and remaining healthy. |

I am 26 and my knee is already bothering me. I have played basketball most my life and continue to play. So I need some relief. This product helped my knee out tremendously and made me feel alot better while playing. Although it maybe in my head it usually is not.

My knees are better

I've been running consistently for about a year and a half. My intensity and speed has increased in the last couple of months but infortunately some pain began to develop in my knees. I just ignored it until it got too great. So I did some research and came upon this product.
I chose this brand since I've used it in the past and got good results. I've been taking the Joint Complex capsules for the last 3 weeks and along with some rest and an improved nutrition, most of the pain in my knees have subsided. Additionally, there is more elasticity in the joints of my knees as well as ankles. I will continue to take it and recommend it for those who do a lot of running. |

| Price on this product was fantastic. I saved a lot of money by being able to purchase this through Amazon (in a larger quantity), versus going to my local food coop, which was almost twice the price for 1/2 the amount of tablets. Shipping was prompt, and this product helps my husband a lot. |

| I waited three weeks to write this review since I knew that it takes a bit of time for this supplement to build up in your body. A little about myself and the reason I chose to purchase the Hyaluronic Joint Complex supplement. A while back i got bone cancer and had to have my leg above the knee amputated. Since then my joints have been in pain because lack of exercise and weight gain. Also my shoulder joints have hurt more and have become increasingly tense and stiff and when bent make a popping noise. I had made a recent decision to get back in shape and the friend I will work out with suggested getting started on a joint complex to help with recovery from workouts and help the joints with the weights they will be lifting. I was skeptical at first and did not think these supplements were doing anything. Yet after a week I noticed there was less of a popping noise in my joints like my shoulders and lower back joints when bent which is a relief because before this joint complex I was more stiff and now it seems the supplement has given my shoulder joints in particular some type of lubricant that is making them feel better which is from the specific components listed on the bottle I believe. I have been taking two tablets twice a day, and am almost through all 120 of them. If I can find this same formula at a lower price I may switch to a cheaper brand of equivalent strength. I have not started the workout routine yet but I do have confidence that my joints are better equipped and prepared for weight training. On a sidebar conversation when you open up the bottle you will smell a fragrant scent I am unsure if this sent is added to mask a smell or if its naturally part of the supplement. Shipping was fast and the expiration date was years ahead. I highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for some relief from joint problems. |

Crepitus remedy?

| Reviewer: lighten_up_already2, Kirkland, WA USA |
A couple years ago I began suffering from crepitus in my knee. OK, not really suffering as in pain but I just started to hear crunching sounds out of one of my knees. My doctor said it was crepitus.
I started taking this Hyaluronic Joint Complex and now I don't hear any crunching.
I can't say for sure if there is a correlation. It may be coincidence, but it sure makes me think, is it worth about $200 a year to take something that might be protecting my joints as I age. Right now, I'm saying "yes". |

| I have taken glucosamine supplements before with some success and was looking forward to this product with subscribe and save and Prime shipping. However, I have had alot of difficulty swallowing these rather large pills. I have never had a problem with other supplements. I tried cutting them in half and then fourths and finally started chewing them. Believe me, they were clearly not designed for tasting. |
Do not buy this

| Do not buy these as the tablets are so large that it actually hurts rubbing against your throat every time you take one. I am a pro athlete and take a lot of supplements, but this one is the worst. In fact, I took one of this and that's it, I am never going back to it and I am still on the lookout for a quality joint supplement. |
