Love this product! Makes the skin feel smooth, soft and exfoliates. Be careful not to use everyday at first. You should start out using the 0.5 formula if you have never used the product before (a pea size dab) every other night. Really helps on those nasty brown spots!
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

I have tried this product for approx. 4 weeks and I have noticed that lines by my eyes appear to be less noticeable and even my enlarged pores are slightly smaller. I have tried lasers with no sucess on shrinking my pores so the fact that this product helped somewhat. I will keep purchasing this product forever!

Studies have shown that retinol is one of the few skin products that actually reduce aging in the skin. This works. I love it.
Super soft skin

I have been using this for over a month now and the results are amazing. My skin is softer and my sun spots have noticibly lightened. I was a previous Retin A user and I find this much easier on my skin. I have NOT had problems with the pump.
No irritation, no problems

I have been using the 0.5 Retinol version, for 1 month, easing into it. Now I use it every night. I have very sensitive skin, but have had no problems with this product. (It has hyaluronic acid in the formula, which prevents dryness associated with retinol use.) I broke out at first, but I am also doing IPL treatments, which might be why I broke out.
I recommend starting with 0.5 (thats what my dermatologist said). I will next purchase the 1.0 version and update my review. The texture is very soft, smooth, easy to apply. It even feels like a moisturizer.
*also, no problem with the pump, I really like it, actually. It only dispenses a tiny amount with each "pump". |
Great product!

I've been using Retinol 1.0 for almost a year and it works for me. I have mix skin, some big pores and occasional breaks. Before I wouldn't leave the house without foundation or a cap to cover my face. Now after a year I can see how my skin has improved, small pores, my skin tone is more even, less acne marks. I've been using it every night with Obagi 3 Clear (Hydroquinona) to get rid of the sun spots and then I wait half an hour and apply phloretin by skinceuticals, it works wonder. In the morning after cleaning my face I reapply Phloretin and later a moisturizer and sunblocker. When using Retinol 1.0, your face will be peeling like a snake for the first 2 weeks, your face will become red and if you use more than a pea size cream you'll burn your skin and it will be itching you for 3 or 4 days. Always wash your hands after using retinol otherwise you take the risk of applying the lefyover of your fingers on your body and next day it will itchy badly. I always buy this product from the skinceuticals website after save some money bought it once from Ebay and didn't do anything to my face. I'm not saying that the Amazon Seller's product is not good, but I do recommend to not buy it from Ebay.
good but expensive

I received this product promptly, but the pump did not work at all. I think another reviewer had a similar problem. However, when I informed the company that sent it, Pretty Skin 4 Less, I was sent another one and they made sure to send one that worked. Their customer service was great. The cream itself seems to work pretty well. I recommend using it in conjunction with a hydrating gel. I have really noticed a difference in my skin in just a few weeks, but you have to use it consistently to get results. My only concern is that it is expensive for such a small amount of product.
pretty good

I have been using this for about 4 months. Follow the directions b/c it is very strong and if you start out using it everyday you will peel and skin will be irritated. However, if you use lightly and sparingly, it is great. I use it every 2 nights along with ROC night cream and my skin looks great!!!

It works. Be careful though, it really will burn your skin if you aren't used to it. But yeah. it works.
Smoother skin

My skin does appear to be smoother & the product also clears up any pimples that pop up. I'm in my 30s and have pretty good skin but I have noticed signs of aging. It does leave dry patches from time to time but nothing that doesn't go away in a short amount of time.
The research I did online said Retinol is a good product for smoother skin. I would purchase this again or even try to get a stronger Retinol prescription from a doctor. |
dump the pump

I have been using this product for about 9 months. I like it but cannot as yet say it does what it claims. HOWEVER, I do not like the pump container it comes in. Of the 3 containers I have used so far, the pumps on 2 of them did not work and I had to pry the top off the cylinder and use a plastic stir stick to access the product. With the stick, I am able to get ALL the product ( with the pump a lot is left behind). The problem is the product is now exposed to air every time I use it. Wouldn't a squeeze-tube work better? I sure would for me.
Kind to skin, effects take a long time

This is one of the rare OTC products that causes visible, positive results. It's gentle (for a retinol product) and it makes my skin look great. However, I won't use this regularly for two reasons: 1. It takes a long time (months) to see results, while my "standard" retinol, Green Cream Level 6, only takes two weeks to see results; making me feel that I get more effects for my money; and 2. Skinceuticals packaging is garbage. The pump on the top of the tiny cannister weakly spits out a drop of product, here and there, and then it just quits. No matter how much I pump, nothing comes out. I cannot believe how much product I've wasted, having the stupid pump thing quit working on every single bottle of this I've owned. Unless Skinceuticals gets rid of the cheapo flimsy pump, this isn't worth it's price because of the waste, alone, not to mention the relatively slow results (on my skin).

I bought and returned one of these because it wouldn't dispense out of the little container. This one is better, but still stinks. I feel lucky to get the recommended pea-size amount after 10 pumps. Did I really end up with two lemons or more likely, is Skinceuticals being cheap with their packaging.

I think I am seeing a slight improvement in sun damage and skin tone, but this product makes my skin peel, so I am not sure if it's worth it. My makeup covers a lot of my sun damage, but the peeling shows through makeup. I doubt I will order this again.
Shame on SkinCeuticals!

Shame on SkinCeuticals and Amazon for carrying a product that cannot be dispensed from the bottle.
I too felt the pump problem was likely resolved long ago and decided to ignore previous reviews.
Wrong! Please fix the pump!
Too soon to know if the actual product works.
I'd sure like to try it!! |
How would I know? TWO defective pumps in a row...

I had been SO looking forward to trying this product...Despite the many complaints about the pump. "How often can that happen?" I asked myself. So for those of you who are wondering, I'll answer you. IT WILL HAPPEN. Two purchases in a row had a defective pump. Amazon was so nice about replacing #1...I won't be asking for a replacement on defective pump #2. How very disappointing that a company like Skinceuticals would allow this well-documented problem to persist. Talk about a BRAND BASHER! Two thumbs down. DON'T BOTHER!
Problem with pump

I had previously read other reviews saying that there was a problem with the pump. This time, I bought two containers, and both had defective pumps, so no product came out. It was not a problem to return them, but I will not be purchasing this product again.
