I suffered from chronic life-changing acid reflux and this was the only thing that helped. My primary care physician put me on maximum, prescription strength Prilosec, didn't work. My allergist tried other prescriptions, didn't work. My Gastroenterologist tried yet another presecription, and wanted to do stomach surgery.
Out of desperation I began trying probiotics. Within just a few days my heartburn was completely gone. I've been taking Florastor daily for almost a year now, and feel great.
I've read up on this a lot, and I have some theories but no scientific proof. I believe that Candida and bacterial imbalances my have been the problem, and Florastor basically rebalanced my intestinal flora. Regardless, I'm a huge fan. |

| Lots of documentation -- Harvard, Johns Hopkins, etc. -- that s. boulardii assists with c. difficile-related diarrhea. See Harvard's on-line research briefs. It helped my daughter tremendously! |

| After several years of doctors visits and numerous tests, I had all but reconciled myself to live with intermittent stomach cramps and bouts of diarrhea. Several medications were tried over the years, but none gave me consistent relief. I purchased this upon a friend's recommendation and I've had no problems since I began taking it. I can't say that this product will work for everyone but it has certainly allowed mr to live a more normal life. |

| Since adding this product to my regime - I also take VSL#3 - I have found relief from problems. My probiotic regime is a little costly, but I don't take any prescription drugs for my condition and find it is well worth the money. |

| I was treated incorrectly for 15 years for Rosacea and was treated with minocycline. The antibiotics almost destroyed my immune system. I started going to a DO for other reasons and she and I discussed my Rosacea. She told me to get Florastor and it should resolve the Rosacea. It did, I no longer have Rosacea. I now take one capsule every other day and will for the rest of my life. Too many people take too many drugs that get your system out of balance. Florastor can make a real difference in balancing your digestive system. |

Yeast is Yeast

I purchased this product from another vendor to supplement acidophilus probiotic supplements, based on the recommendation of many people.
I am on long-term antibiotic therapy and am concerned about keeping candida or even c difficile at bay.
I noted the manufacturer's disclaimer that Florastor is not suitable for people with yeast allergies.
I have never been diagnosed with a yeast allergy nor have I experienced what would be considered classic symptoms of a true yeast allergy.
Instead, I avoid baker's and brewer's yeast because of painful lower abdominal bloating after ingestion.
I had hoped this yeast, being a "good" yeast, would be tolerable.
After the first capsule I began to get that uncomfortable and painful lower abdominal bloating. I tried another capsule the next day, hoping my body just needed to adjust. Bad idea.
If you are sensitive to baker's and/or nutritional yeasts, even if you don't have a *true* allergy, think twice about purchasing this product.
The quality of the product appears to be excellent, but I am rating it 3 stars because I think the manufacturer should emphasize the possibility of a reaction in people who are sensitive -- but not necessarily allergic -- to yeast.
