An independent, double-blind, placebo - controlled crossover study on the effect of FRS on cycling performance in eleven elite cyclists was completed at Pepperdine University and published in the International Journal of Sports Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism. Great Sustained Energy

I am pretty much a sceptic of so-called energy drinks. Most of them give you a quick buzz, then let you down just as hard. But, that being said, I am a cyclist, so I decided to give this a try since Lance has his hand in the company.

I love it. I love it. What I especially love is the fact that it is a gradual release. You don't get that horribly jumpy I-gotta-run-around-the-block feeling. I drink it about 30 minutes before my ride, which is usually 20 to 30 miles, and about a third of the way into the ride it kicks in. I don't get a rush, just a feeling that I can keep going and push a little harder. The energy really does seem to last for a few hours without a horrible crash at the end.

Taste is not bad, not great, but certainly drinkable. I got the orange powder. I put it in a shaker bottle with eight ounces of COLD water, let it sit for a bit, then drink. It reminds me of the orange Tang I used to drink as a kid.

This is a product I will buy again.

Just as the description states: "for sustained energy and weight reduction". FRS does not give you a jolt like caffeine does, instead it is more subtle. It'll keep you awake in work after a heavy lunch, or will give you the energy to do just a little more during your workout. Consequently, it raises your metabolism making dieting more efficient.

I had tried the FRS products (concentrate liquid, chewy snacks and powder supplement that you mix with water) on a free trial from the mfr. Although I did not sign up for the automatic ship program, I knew this supplement was working because I had more energy to get through the demands of the day than I have had in months. I continue to take the FRS daily and would recommend it highly to anyone who has depleted energy or just wants to destroy as many of the free radicals in their system as possible.

I've always struggled with excessive fatigue, taking an hour nap everyday, constantly yawning about 10-30 times in the morning and I was about to go to the doctor to find out what was wrong. Then I came across the frs energy drink site and tried out the free trial. The results were amazing. As soon as I drank it, I felt the fatigue in the morning that felt like a heavy backpack completely disappear and I had no urge to take my everyday nap. I had a high level of energy that lasted the entire day. Even as I'm typing this at night, I am still feeling it. And even more amazingly, with all this, there were NO side effects whatsoever. I'm taking it everyday since and I strongly recommend it to anyone who struggles with fatigue.

I've recently gotten into health drinks (Emergen-C and ZipFizz, etc...). This stuff is a little expensive but I got it with the 15% discount. Without a doubt I had more energy while working out the first time I tried it - I burned 100 more calories than I usually do on the treadmill and afterwards felt like I had never gone running in the first place. I've used it a few more times since then and this stuff is great. I'm no health expert but I have already recommended this stuff to several siblings and friends. Everyone I've told about it (gave them a free pack) liked it a lot and got their own.

Try it out for yourself. I take it 30 mins before I workout.

FRS is one of the least known products on the market.
Yet, amazingly, has the most beneficial effects on your mind and body, over anything I've ever experienced.

For your body: take 1 packet and mix with 8oz of cold water, 20 minutes before you work out i.e. weights/aerobics/jogging. Your level of strength and endurance will increase demonstrably, and actually exceed your expectations by a very wide margin.

For your mind: take one packet and mix with 8 oz of cold water, 20 minutes before you stress your brain with complex tasks, i.e. working on math spread sheets, studying, memorizing, reading and absorbing difficult subject matter, playing piano through memory or reading the sheet music, cross word puzzles...the list is endless. The results of FRS on your brain will be in a word...unforgettable. Also, if you're socializing and having one or more cocktails, take FRS before you start, and you will stay sober when everyone else around you becomes impaired. A sure fired way to become the "designated driver."

My husband travels quite a bit so the FRS packets come in handy during the travel weeks. The FRS packets are extremely convenient and come in a variety of flavors. I have done my research online and Amazon seems to offer the best price with the Free Shipping for Subscribe and Save items and the lower price with the program. If you drink FRS, this is a terrific method to receive the product at a great price with the convenience of having it delivered to your doorstep!

Here are the cons:

1. Its way too expensive

2. It mixes terrible. The best way to mix it is putting it in a water bottle and shaking it.

3. The energy effect is marginal. This isn't redbull or Emergen-C.

Pros:

1. I love the taste.

2. Your not going to get fat on the 10 calories per serving diet flavors.

If you have never tried FRS before, I'd recommend picking up a 4 can pack at GNC (or you can order it online.) If you hate it, your not going to like this.

Personally I drink it two or three times daily and have been for the past three months. I started with cans but the weight and space that takes up is fairly significant. I switched to the powder, which definitely is different, but it is an acceptable replacement.

In reading the previous reviews, I think people are looking for too much. I run after work and drink this about an hour before my run. I feel like I'm able to run longer than if I hadn't taken it. This is the point of the product. If you are able to train longer, then you get more results. It is a bit expensive, but it's a good product. Even if you aren't using it to sustain your workout, the vitamins and green tea are good and help boost metabolism.

I started using FRS 3 years ago & immediately noticed an improvement in my workouts. I have more energy & feel stronger when I spin or do the elliptical. I use the packets as a breakfast supplement and blend it with fruit, oatmeal and egg whites 1/2 hour before I go to the gym. Also it has a pleasant tart taste (like SweetTarts)that's not bad. Because it is a little pricey, I don't use it everyday. I am very satisfied with the results I've gotten from using FRS & will continue to use it.

As most of us try to fit many different things into one day, we usually need a pick me up when we're feeling sluggish. That used to come in the form of energy drinks like Monster, Rockstar, or Red Bull for me. Even though I drank the "Lo-Carb" versions, that stuff had way too much caffeine in it. I decided to try FRS and I haven't touched another energy drink since. If you drank Tang when you were a kid, like me, then you'll love this. If you didn't like Tang, then you probably won't like the flavor of this. It has plenty of B vitamins and a small amount of caffeine. For me, it seems like it started working better after I used it a few times. So if you don't feel that much energy the first time, try it again. And at about $1.20 a drink, it's much cheaper than those crappy energy drinks.

This product lived up to its hype. Gave a great jump start to my day. I drink it during my morning workout. Not one to drink anything but water and black coffee, I added more water than recommended. Nice flavor, for you old folks, kinda reminds me of Tang. Only problem is that it doesn't stay mixed. Not a problem if you added it to a water bottle, just give it a shake before you take a sip.

title pretty much says it all. I first tried this stuff out of a can at a Korean restaurant and loved it. This stuff does not taste nearly as good, so I just chug it down. But it works really well. You won't feel a buzz like you do with normal energy drinks but you don't feel a drag 4 hours later just the same.

It's not the best tasting vitamin drink, I'm sure, but I don't buy vitamin products with high taste expectations. It gets a little gritty at the bottom, but you can always add more water.

I wish they would offer more FRS products without sugar! I like the energy impact I'm getting in the middle of the day.

Like many people, I work during the day and the evenings often times bring on another part time if not full time job. As far as energy goes, no more energy for me than taking my daily vitamin in the mornings. I purchased the orange flavored powder which doesn't taste too bad but not a flavor I would want to drink long term. Perhaps I lacked energy because I didn't adhere to the suggested daily intake of more than 1 drink a day (who would want to and how many people could afford it?). In any event, take a vitamin instead (save your money). I'm being generous in giving this product 3 stars only because of the nutritional value.

Pro:
- I think that it tastes pretty good and tend to dilute it more than the packet to 8 oz of water. The taste is almost identical to diet tang.

Con:
- Does not mix well at all with water. It clumps up into floating balls that dodge your mixing spoon. If you invest the 15 minutes it takes to get it to dissolve be sure not to let the residue dry to your glass since it sticks like a paste glue.
I've tried putting it in the glass first and adding water (nightmare)
Fill glass first and add the powder which floats and mixes poorly
Mixing it in a bottle that you can close and shake works 'ok' but who has an 8 oz shaker??

I wake up at 4:30 am every day to workout and get things done around the house. I work full-time and do weight loss counseling during my lunch on top of it.

Enough said on why I need energy, right?

I actually hate the canned energy drinks because, although they worked, my heart raced and I crashed hard a few hours later and you could hardly wake me from a nap.

Enter FRS. I actually prefer to liquid concentrated version, to be honest. But these are good for when I travel or when I'm on the go since you have to refrigerate the concentrate.

Positives:
Works like crazy. There is a reason Lance Armstrong uses this stuff. That's not a plug, I don't work for FRS. But I do live in Austin with L.A. (well, not actually WITH him...anyhoo...)
Has less caffeine than 1/3 cup of coffee. No racing heart. No crash. No bad side effects
Provides all natural energy from quercetin and high antioxidants
Quercetin is currently being studied by the FDA as a treatment for obesity. No results yet, but preliminary use of quercetin resulted in weight loss in many of its users which put it in the testing. (Google it...it's too long for me go into.) I shouldn't say you'll lose weight from it because of that...I have no clue. I swear it helps me but it could be coincidence that I have more energy which results in doing more, which results in weight loss. Who knows.
I know I need to drink it, but I hate water. I don't use a full packet of this in my water so that I get more "water" in my ratio, but it flavors it well so I suck it down.
I love the berry taste.

Negatives:
This doesn't dissolve as well as other water flavorings. It often sticks to the side of my water bottle, or the bottom. Also, it can clump which means I'll suck in a tiny glob of it--this wouldn't be a problem if it were something like hot cocoa mix but the stuff has lots of vitamins in it so you suck in a clump and you get a tangy vitiman aftertaste
It's too expensive in my opinion for water powder. But I still buy it. It sucked me in.
I think the liquid concentrate is actually more potent but this works in a pinch when I'm on the go or to flavor my water since I am not a fan of water and flavorings are the only way I'll drink it.

Conclusion: If they had competition on an all-natural Quercetin-full powdered drink mix, I'd shop it in hopes for better dissolving and a lower price...til then, I just use it sparingly and I use the FRS liquid low calorie concentrate as my "go to" healthy energizer every day (especially in the morn and prior to any workout). I have that on automatic ordering through Amazon so it's actually 50% less than if I order it directly through FRS (I think the FRS site it a tad of a rip off for a few reasons) since it's 15% off that way and there is no shipping costs...that stuff is heavy if you order lots of bottles so it's worth it.



Decent product; packaging needs work.

The low-calorie versions of FRS are the best energy drinks I've sampled so far. The wild berry flavor was a little weird at first, but once I got used to it it tasted just like the raspberry flavor of Crystal Light. One serving sustains me through a an hour-long workout consisting of interval and weight training without adding an unacceptable amount of calories to my diet.

However, the tops of the individual packages don't tear off cleanly and must be snipped with scissors, defeating the whole purpose of the "convenient", portable packaging. If you try to pour the package into a container of water without snipping the top clean off, things can get messy and being berry-colored, this stuff stains pretty bad. Also, the powder doesn't dissolve very well unless you shake the bottle real good.

I plan to keep using this product and will be thrilled if FRS fixes the problems.

I've been using FRS for over 2.5 years on subscription and love it. It is a fantastic product that does what it says. For the skeptics, all I can say is that the proof is in pudding. I haven't been sick in over a year and we have elementary aged kids whereas without it I was sick every 3 months with something or another. FRS surely helps with performance be it athletic or in my case hard core focus in developing Multimedia. I use the orange powder mix, convenient, refreshing, and you can mix it to your liking with more or less water.

The 3 star rating is for the most recent as of July 2010 "Improved Dissolving Formula" mix. It surely dissolves better but the taste is completely different. The original formula is refreshing and doesn't leave an aftertaste, the latest doesn't taste as good, leaves my throat dry, and has a light Orange Julius after taste. I was so disappointed by this change that I called FRS to see if they had any old stock that I could stock up on and there was none to be had. The new formula is here to stay because in a "focus group" people wanted the powder to dissolve better. Well I do too, but why change the flavor as well. And I'm not sure if it's a psychological thing or not, but I don't seem to get the same energy push from this "Improved" formula.

Please FRS, bring back the original formula or at least offer it as an option: "Original Orange" or "Better Dissolving Orange Julius".

The taste of this product is awful. It does perk you up a little bit. It's like drinking a liquid vitamin with lots of grit. I will not buy again. I have had for 2 months approx. and only used two of them. The rest are sitting in my cupboard.
Didn't work for me, but worth a try. Order it from Amazon.

The first time I posted my experience, six readers immediately disagreed with it (obviously they felt they knew far better than I whether FRS Healthy Energy provided me with any "lift"). I withdrew the review, but upon reflection I've regretted my decision to do so. Whether or not the product "worked" for an individual is necessarily personal and anecdotal, one person's report. It's hardly a matter for disagreement--unless the responder is intent upon promoting an agenda.

All of the FRS products have ingredients likely to be familiar to users of "energy" drinks, powders, supplements, and bites: sugar, corn syrup, fructose, caffeine, green tea extract. The drink also offers the MDR for key vitamins along with antioxidant activity from the green tea leaves and, most importantly, "quercetin," a bioflavanoid that is used in red wine replacement capsules as a highly potent free radical scavenger. While "quercetin" is widely recognized as an effective blood toner, conditioner, and "bad" cholesterol reducer, FRS is prominently promoting it as an energizer, capable of "extending" the body's natural adrenaline "and" removing the "oxidants that cause fatigue." A controversial statement, backed by little controlled studies, especially if the inference is that quercetin will provide an immediate "lift."

Of course, FRS points out that it's not simply the individual ingredients that provide increased energy but an optimal, catalytic combination that promotes thermogenesis, increases metabolic rate, and helps the body make efficient use of carbohydrates. So it's possible the product has worked for many (besides Mr. Armstrong). If so, testimonials on its behalf deserve to be taken seriously by any curious, health-minded individuals.

The powdered drink mix perhaps makes the most sense to start with, and the chewy bites the least (the sugar in the bites actually had a paradoxical effect, momentarily enervating rather than energizing me). The drink is flavorable enough, with a convincing fresh-fruitish "tang," and not overly sweet. But in my case it did not counteract either the late-morning or late-afternoon "crashes" and obviate the need for that extra expresso or two.

If you choose to try the product, be exceptionally careful about the apparently generous internet offer, endorsed by Mr. Armstrong, of a complete sample kit of the products sent free of charge (with the exception of postage and handling costs). The merchandising tactics of FRS are practically antithetical to the full-disclosure, consumer-centric policies of a site like Amazon. (If Bezos offered everyone a free Kindle, saying it's yours to keep if you don't like it, I'd have full confidence in his offer; FRS employs more deceptive, misleading tactics that could result in your admittance to a pricey club before you even realized you were a member.)

So put Lance Armstrong and his company (he's part owner) to the test, but order the products through Amazon to avoid unwanted hassle, hustle and hype. If you decide the product is for you, then is the time to inquire into the benefits of being a member of the club.

I love the LIME flavor FRS, but this Berry flavor is not good. It is too sweet and not tart enough to hide the flavor of the vitamins, etc. I'm sticking with the lime.

The powder doesn't like to mix with water, even when you shake it in a bottle vigorously for a few minutes. This drink gave me no extra energy whatsoever, even when I drank two in a row. Doesn't taste awful but I certainly wouldn't call it delicious. Save your money! Though for almost the same price you can buy a red bull which is much more effective!

The placebo effect is powerful

I have been a doctor for 50 years. In that time there are now probably 1000 times as many medications and 500 times more medical procedures. Every one of them in order to be accepted has to undergo what is called a double blinded, placebo controlled study. An appropriate number of patients have to be recruited. In the case of Lipitor it was 10,000. 5000 took Lipitor and 5000 took the placebo, which looked exactly like the Lipitor pill. None of the patients or nurses or doctors knew who got what. All of the patients were seen often and after 5 years Pfizer broke the code and discovered that the Lipitor treated group had 50% less heart attacks, strokes and death. Every pill and every procedure has to be tested this way if it is to get on the market. FRS has never been tested this way and never will. The beneficial effects of this product depend on the placebo effect. If you believe something will benefit you because you have read many + testimonials there is a very good chance you will experience a benefit. Of course drinking a potion and expecting to, and then feeling better is a piece of cake compared to the potion actually curing cancer or healing an ulcer. You wouldn't want to go to your doctor when you are very sick and get a placebo. FRS depends on + comments of users and the celebrity endorsement of one of the greatest athletes in history. Does Lance say he won the Tour de France because of FRS? If he did would that be cheating?

I have been using Remington razors for over 7 years and they just keep getting better. The new 3TCT series shave closer than a blade. The replacement screens and cutters work extreemly well and are easly installed.

A word of advice for the frequent shaver. To reduce the discomfort of ingrown hairs and razor burn, rinse the blades and screen in alcohol before each use.

It's a good deal, and you need the replacements anyway

I recently purchased these replacements because the screen developed a small hole and started to cut my face. This happens to everyone, but come on, that happened to me after A YEAR of using the shaver and this is the first time I bought replacements (shaving about 2 times a week).

Always rinse your blades and screens with water after each shave and they will last longer. For the blades use the brush to clean it while rinsing it with water and NEVER use the brush for the screens.

I also had a hard time finding the replacements locally, but I found it here in Amazon and I think the price is really great since other online stores have it over $20. Why are you complaining you can't find the replacements? just click on "Add to Cart" is it that hard?

I think spending around $17 a year for shaving is a GOOD DEAL.

Saw the reviews on screen tears. I don't have that problem. Just a helpful hint, don't press hard on your skin, this will cause the screen to fail much sooner. Your skin should barely move under the shaver. It's not a razor blade and does not have to be pushed into the skin in order to cut the hair. Mine usually last over a year. The blades usually need to be replaced before the screen...

I also buy two at a time (free shipping), so the price is less than what I buy at the store ($20 plus tax).

I ordered the replacement kit after whining to my wife about the way the shaver was "pulling" on my whiskers. It was then that I realized I hadn't replaced the blades in well over a year. The blades and screen are very easy to replace and they restore the shaver back to new condition, as far as the shave is concerned. This shaver is not the best in the world, for sure, but if yours is getting a bit painful to shave with and you don't want to spend $100 for a new one, order the kit and you won't be sorry.

I have used this shaver for over six years! I had to replace them two times. Once because the foil failed the other is while cleaning the blades I drop the foil in the toilet while it was flushing. To my dismay you have to buy the whole set at that time I had to order the set. The next time the price went down to $ 23.99 . This will be my third set! I think since I have very skin sensitive and use pre shave it helps the blades and foil. And for me it no razor burn:) :)

I've had the Remington Titanium MS3 2700 for about 5 years now with daily use, and it has held up very well. The screen and cutters lasted for about 4 years, which is actually longer than the recommended period for replacing them. The screen started to have holes several months ago. So I replaced them with these SP-94 Microscreen and cutters, and have been very happy with them. Good price, fast shipping, easy to install, and works without any problems.

The Remington SP-94 replacement cutters are extremely sharp and cut pretty close to the skin - not as close as a manual razor, but I'll trade a close shave for a shave that doesn't leave me with painful razor burn like manual razors tend to. The cutters mount onto spring-loaded plastic holders and are very secure.
The replacement screens are easy to install and are flexible and comfortable on the skin, even around the jawline.
I change the cutters once every 4-6 months on average to ensure they stay sharp, though I'm sure they would last longer. The screens occasionally get little holes in them in the middle of a shave and the sharp edges around the holes in the screen have cut my face a few times. I always keep a couple extra sets of replacement screens/cutters on hand so I can replace them as necessary.
The screens and cutters are easy to clean with the little cleaning brush that comes with most Remington razors.
Overall, I think the Remington SP-94 replacement screens and cutters are a good product. Aside from the screens getting holes in them due to normal wear and tear and cutting my face, I am very pleased with these and I will continue to use them.
The local retail stores in my area stopped carrying these replacement screens/cutters a few months ago so I was extremely happy to find them on Amazon. The price is about $6 less than I used to pay at the retail store and the fact that they qualify for free super-saver shipping (I bought two sets to take advantage of that) makes this a really good deal.

I have owned an MS3 TCT for almost 10 years and love it. Many of you may have already figured this out cause it seems like common sense, but here is a trick to get double the life from your refills.
Pop out the titanium cutters that sit in their triagle looking case and flip them over, exposing a new cutting edge. Bam! 4 more months of use, just like that.

Replacing the the cutters and screen on an electric shaver is not quite like getting a new shaver, but it's not bad either. For a lot less than the price of a new shaver, it works like a charm and I couldn't be happier to save the money.

Replacing the screen and cutters is a little non-intuitive, but if you follow the directions it goes together easily. Definitely worth it.

These blades are good if you are willing to take the time to really work on your face. Granted I haven't found any better out there but it does take time to use and even longer to clean.
The screens are fine as long as you don't use the cleaning brush on them-they are delicate. Be careful to change them as soon as they rip or you'll cut your face. Remington doesn't sell these any more directly I don't believe, so Amazon is a good resource.

I replace a foil screen about once every 3 months, what I would consider normal. I always order an SP-94 (cutters & foils) and an SP-93 (foils only) at the same time so that I can replace the cutters as I go through 6 foils. I also ignore the instuctions to replace all the foils at the same time -I only replace one at a time. Pretty economical that way compared to blades.

I bought one of the microscreens and shortly it developed the infamous hole and cut my face everytime I used it. Couldn't find any replacement screens anywhere so I removed the blade from beneath the screen with the hole. Have been using it like that for about a year now. It still scrapes a bit but no more cuts :)

I also purchased the MS3-2700 shaver and the microscreen developed a small hole and cut my face as well. I also have been unable to find replqacement screens and cutters. I e-mailed remmington and they told me to pack sand. This is a good product but the replacement parts need to be replaced to often and finding them is impossible.

This stuff is amazing! I was given a sample of it last year at Disneyland after getting a bad sunburn. I hurt so bad I thought we were going to miss a day of playing. When we got back to the hotel, I put this on and almost immediately the pain was gone. The next couple days I alternated between sunscreen during the day and this at night and you couldn't even tell I'd ever been burned. Amazing product! Overall, the best thing about it is the instant pain relief.

My husband had part of a load of hot asphalt dumped on his bald head. Asphalt is usually 300 degrees. They used this product after they had brushed off what they could. He came home with no blisters, no burns, and not in pain. No kitchen, shop, or house with a wood stove should be without it!!!!!!! It should be in your camping gear as well!!

I purchased this because I was lucky enough to have a sample of it on hand! I was cooking and put my frypan into my oven to bake a dinner. After I removed it from the oven and placed it on the stove top, I grabbed the handle and lifted the pan before realizing it was the pan I just removed from a 400 degree oven. I had a sample of this gel and put it on my burning hand. First, it stopped the pain in about 30 seconds and next it somehow stopped my hand from even blistering. It was as if I never touched the pan. I can't explain how magical this stuff really is!

The first rule is not to get burned. However, working with a number of hot hobbies including a Fisher wood-burning stove in the workshop, accidents do sometimes happen.

For this review, I'll be referring only to 2nd-degree burns resulting in white, melted skin, blistering and peeling.

This Burn Gel has appeared in my Amazon.Com recommendations for months. I've ignored it each time. I've walked around with ice packs strapped to some medium-rare chuck of flesh for years, why change now? Why are men so stubborn and reluctant to change?

Hot mufflers on motorcycles hate me. In fact, most hot things do.

It took a cast-iron skillet in my favorite Mexican restaurant to convince me to change my errant ways. The tantalizing aroma and sight of SIZZLING chicken fajitas captured my eyes and caused my stomach to kick my brain under the table. I missed the big padded handle and grabbed the skillet.

The server always warns of a hot skillet when he places it on the table. It was not his fault.

In one ear and out the other. Another dominate male trait in my family.

Although the pain was intense and the napkins full of ice were a dripping mess, trying to eat with my left hand was a bigger mess.

My biggest regret was the embarrassment I suffered from the workers running around afraid that I might file a lawsuit. Any person who would do such a thing because they were stupid ought to be shot and removed from the gene pool.

As soon as I got home, I logged in, careful not to drip water into my keyboard, and ordered the Water-Jel Burn Jel from Amazon.Com.

Less than a month later while in the workshop, a 3-inch burn magically appeared on the back of my forearm. My doubt turned to jubilation as soon as I covered the burn with Burn Jel. The pain instantly vanished. The most amazing thing was the healing. Burns have always left scars on me. This time, there was no scar. It's been two weeks and the burn is barely visible. I am 100% sold on this product and am ordering more for every vehicle emergency kit and workshop location. Keeping one of the tiny sealed packets in my pocket at all times might be a good idea.

Perhaps I was supposed to slather this stuff on really thick, but I got a mild burn from some hot sappy stuff in the kitchen. I put this on but didn't find immediate relief. I found better relief in holding my finger under running cold water for 5 minutes.

A Must Have for Singers and Speakers

This great little device is an essential for singers and speakers, especially those who suffer allergies. (Allergy sufferers who aren't singers or speakers would benefit too.) Steam is the number 1 treatment prescribed by my otolaryngologist when experiencing allergy, cold, or other respiratory/vocal symptoms. My personal steamer travels easily with me, tucked into the corner of a carry-on size suitcase. When you're on the road presenting or performing, it can be a life saver. Much better than a towel over your head and a pan of boiling water too (and safer). I recommend personal steamers to all my voice students. It's true, as another reviewer wrote, that you can buy this less expensively at your local WalMart or Target store, but even at this price, it's a winner.

I purchased the Inhaler after reviewing other comparable devices on the Internet. What sold me was the price and the name brand.

I've been using it whenever my sinus is blocked and it does a great job. Very low maintenance and the cost (water + a bit of electricity) is close to nothing to what it uses.

The face mask (I'll call it that) fits me well but I usually keep my head a few inches away when the steam really starts to engage. I surely don't want to fry my nasal passages and it could easily do that if I continue to keep my face right up to the mask.

I know I could use those menthol pads but the cost is high even searching around on the internet for lower costs. What I did instead is purchase those pocket Vicks inhalers that is not only cheap but very effective too! I usually stop for 30 seconds between steam sessions and inhale through each nostril about three times and then continue on with 5-10 minute sessions doing this for 20 minutes or so. Works real well.

I think the device will last me years and years and the maintenance with white vinegar is also low cost!

I received my personal steamer today; it's compact, requires no assembly, is easy to use and the flow of steam is adjustable. The face mask is relatively comfortable and it was relaxing to inhale warm, moist air during the treatment. Cleaning instructions appear to be simple. As promised, sinus and chest congestion were loosened during the first treatment. I highly recommend this product.

This product really works to open nasal passages and relieve congestion.
Follow the instructions. Using it for a 5 minute session 3 times a day really did the trick. The first two days I got releif and could sleep all night but would still get congested. On the 3rd day the gates opens and the drainage was terrific. I am getting one for my grown son that has allergies worse than I do .

This "personal" steam inhaler is as small and lightweight as it could be and do the job as advertised. The base diameter is 5 1/2 inches & the assembled height of the unit is 8 1/4 inches. The clear, plastic mask covers nose and mouth; the plastic is soft and well-shaped. One's face is best held a little away from the mask because the steam can be very hot. The product is well made. Recommended.

My wife bought this little steam inhaler for me a few years back because she thought it might help relieve my headaches after I noticed that a long, hot shower would bring me pain relief. A real miracle in my opinion! I don't know what kind of headaches I get (sinus? maybe) but whenever they're bad, I use this little guy, and I would say 95% of the time, within 20 minutes of inhaling the steam, the headache is GONE. I can't say this will work for your headaches, but it has for me and it lets me start functioning again. Just be careful when you first use it - you need to adjust the opening for the right amount of steam and gauge how close you get to the facepiece so you don't burn yourself, because the water is literally boiling. I'm ordering another one for the office. Good luck!

I got my Vicks Steam Inhaler a few days ago. I had been choosing between it and the Mabis one. However, the latter costs $20 more so I decided to go with this one considering almost identical review ratings. I would rate it with 4.5 starts, not with 5. There is still a little room for improvement. It is pretty compact and quick. It starts producing steam in about 4 minutes. Yes, you can regulate the amount of steam. But I found that hot air makes me breath faster and, as a result, there is not enough steam produced by the machine between my breaths. Fortunately, I came up with a nice and simple solution. The mask has a few holes in it to mix the steam with some fresh air. If I cover with my fingers some or all three holes I get enough steam with every inhalation. It's pretty convenient, at least, for me and allows to (manually) regulate the amount of steam.
Another thing important for me was a possibility to use oil. Neither Vicks or Mabis inhaler assume that you can directly add aroma oil to water. Both brands sale their own inhaler pads designed to work with their machines. But the choice of oils is very limited. By the way, the Vicks Inhaler comes with a disposable pad good for one time use. Some people reported that they had still added a few drops of oil. For some it worked fine, for the others it didn't work that well screwing in some way the water heating surface. What I did is I bought this refill kit (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XPX1HG) and it's been working great for me. You can put a pad directly on the plastic thing with the holes the steam comes out. The only difference with the original pad is form but it works great. It does not mess with the water heating surface and you can refill those cotton pads with any oil you want. For the future, I'm going to buy cotton pads and oil separately. I prefer to use calendula and there is no pads or kits coming with calendula extract.

I have frequent issues with my sinuses and am always trying to stave off a sinus infection, and, I'm not a big fan of medication. I read about how humidifiers can help with sinus issues, but didn't want to turn my apartment into a sauna.

I read some of the one and two-star reviews and was a bit concerned about the steam output, but I found that this little contraption almost produces too much steam; just like a hot shower, it takes a minute to get acclimated to the heat. This evening I have completed two full treatments and have now regained the use of my nose.

My only issues with this device are that, for one, the little rubber feet were a little uneven (I fixed that). Secondly, the therapeutic disc included with this product seemed worthless (although that could be due to my congested nose).

However, this product does what it claims. So for that, it gets all five stars from me. If only I could find a way to get this to run on batteries and glue it to my face.

The product was way beyond my expatiations, and it works very well, plenty of steam, and the steam adjust slide worked great.

I was taking nasal B-12, for stuffed up nose, and a slight cold, but wasn't working that well. So I put a half of a dropper of Ener-B in the water,in the inhaler,

I couldn't believe the results, first off it cleared up my nose, and stopped the cold. I was over fatigued and depressed, well it really woke me up, and made me alive.

What B-12 does, is create more oxygen in the blood, which can make your mind move faster. Nasal B-12 can also Destroy the Flu & Cold Viruses [...].

I think this is a Great product, and is well made and designed. It has make me feel great, and the Price is Right!

Since moving to North Carolina a year ago, I have had numerous sinus infections. I have not had one since April and I considered myself lucky.
Well, my luck ran out and I purchased this steamer. I am very pleased with this product. It is easy to use and works great. You have to work with it and find the right level of steam for your use.
I put it on full blast and just move my head an inch or two off of the plastic face piece.
It is well worth the money and it is small enough for you to keep out at all times. It will be a great product for traveling.
You can't beat it for the price.

This is a great little steamer. I am recovering from pneumonia due to inactivity following leg surgery.

In two days of use (3x daily for about 5 minutes) I feel MUCH better. It produces just the right amount of steam. The reservoir which I thought was too small will produce 15-20 minutes worth of steam with just a couple of ounces of tap water. Cleaning takes seconds, just let it cool and wipe it out with a clean towel.

Those who complain about it spilling water should have tried reading the instructions which clearly state that it must be placed on a solid surface and that water spillage IS likely if you don't. I have mine on a mobile computer cart next to my bed and lean over the unit with no problem at all. Medicated pads are a cute idea but it is pure steam that has the greatest benefit to respiration. $30 on this was worth more than the $50 I've had to spend on antibiotics and Mucinex so far.

I bought this inhaler during spring allergy season. I am a singer and had a performance in June. My allergies were bad, and I was coughing, had lots of phlegm, and the coughing was irritating my throat. This inhaler was very easy to use, and was extremely helpful in helping me expectorate. If you are experiencing congestion due to a cold or dry air, this steam inhaler is an excellent treatment. Simply put about two ounces of water in the container, plug it in, and in about 5 minutes, the water is boiling and steam is being produced. The product has a vent adjustment to control the amount of steam you receive and you can also put an included medicated pad on the steamer for additional relief.

I really like this product and it helps me clear my stuffy nose. However, in a relatively short time, the who unit began to fall apart. The plastic literally caved in. I like it so much that I went out of my way to glue it all back together again with Gorilla Glue. Now I don't have problems with it PLUS I only used DISTILLED water in the unit. Unfortunatly, the instructions never said any type of water and I do believe this may have nearly done the unit in. So used distilled water. Also, the instructions say don't add anything to the water. However, I enjoy putting in the few drops of eucalyptus oil

the amount of steam the unit produced based on one review, and I assure you, his/her item must have been broken. The unit literally boils the water and produces alot of steam. As a matter of fact I turned the unit off because it got a bit too hot for me, then just enjoyed the leftover steam. I'm a singer and need a little compact unit like this to take with me. I received my personal steamer yesterday and it really works...Online it says that you could use it for 15 minutes but when I timed it last night,I swear, you could use it for 30 minutes..unbelievable for a very small device but you can definitely use it that long...Also, I like the fact that I can carry it anywhere and that it doesn't moisten the whole room because the face mask blocks the steam from going everywhere and makes it focus on certain areas of your face. The only downside that I can see so far is that the face mask, the smell of plastic really annoys me but I think that's just because it's still new..maybe it'll fade away after using it several times. I also gave it 4 stars because I don't like the way it was designed.The container for the water is a bit smaller than I expected it but then again, it holds up enough water that will last you 30 minutes. And one last thing, you should make sure to put the device in a stable place.NEVER EVER put in on the bed because the hot water can spill since it has 2 holes on the side.I would have probably given it 5 stars and more if it were not for these two dislikeable features..but overall, it's worth every penny.

I just received my personal steam inhaler yesterday. I've used it twice. It works as advertised and I really enjoy breathing in the hot steam. It is the same sensation as breathing in a sauna, steam room, or sweat lodge. It does a great job of clearing out my sinuses and is very relaxing. In the manual, they tell you to wipe it down after each use - which is OK but you have to wait for it to cool down first (minor inconvenience). It is a very simple machine but it seems to work well. It's a little bit awkward to store, though it's not very big. I just cleaned mine off each time and put it back in the box it came in. All in all I think it's pretty cool so far.

Steam inhalation really is the way to go for sinus issues, colds, asthma and many respiratory issues. This sure beats standing over a pot of hot water on the stove with a towel over you!

I originally got a personal steamer for my daughter's asthma 13 years ago. It really helped when she had taken multiple doses of her bronchial dilator and was shaking from the medication, but still having trouble breathing. The warm mist really helped.

Later I used it for treatment of sinus and upper respiratory bugs. Now there is all kinds of research on the benefits of warm steam therapy.

Our Vicks finally died after a long and helpful life, so I replaced it with one just like it. I couldn't find one in the stores and was relieved to find it on Amazon.

Two picky notes: the steam is a bit hard to adjust - you end up leaning in or out to control the steam as much as using the dial control. Also, you need to make sure you clean it after a few uses and DEFINITELY when you are putting it away for a while. Mine might still be working if I had done that.

We have owned this product for many years and have found it very effective in preventing and treating colds, bronchitis, and sinus infections. However, we owned the previously made product by KAZ and found it to be a much superior product for the same purpose. Sadly, Vicks bought the KAZ product and KAZ no longer makes the old version. The Vicks product plastic cone (that you put your face into) has an odd angle for face placement, and is too tall/high and easily tips, thus spilling boiling water onto your lap or chest. Be careful with this and wear a thick blanket "bib" to protect yourself from burns. Be sure to supervise children who use this product. We did not have this same stability problem with the KAZ made product. That being said. This product is still extremely effective in treating upper respiratory problems, much cheaper than medications and drugs, and much better for the body. Product states that you can put eucalyptus (mentholatum or vicks type products) into the water, but know that these products shuts down the cillia movement in the nasal passages and bronchial tubes, and is counterproductive.

This is a good product, converts water in to steam fast, easy to assemble and disassemble. The operation is quiet and is quite portable. The only reason I am giving it four stars is because it gives less steam although it does not matter after 7-10 minutes because the steam is so hot that you have to keep your head higher. I am hoping it helps me out this allergy season.

I have purchased this product for my allergies and just when I have a cold and stuffy nose.. it works good, except its not as well adjustable.. sometimes I feel its burning me so I have to put my face more away from it, but if you are careful it does the job.. what I like about it, its pretty small so easily portable when you travel and very afordable, not expansive at all.. so if you need to ease your sinus pressure this is great investment.. steam is supposed to be good for skin too..

I've been having trouble shaking a chest cold. Steam, especially medicated with VICKS is a big help. One point needs clarification. The steamer recommends (expensive) pads and recommends NOT using liquid VICKS for steamers.
However the VICKS liquid specifically says it is designed for steamers!
This steamer is easy to use and does what it says it will do. I used it with the pads. I have not yet dared to use it with the VICKS liquid - but will, one of these days.
I also use a steam room at the YMCA and carry a paper towel soaked with VICKS liquid in - to breath-through. That works well, also.

This is a great little steamer. I suffer from chronic sinus headaches, and often, steam is the only thing that will get rid of them. You do have to be careful not to put your face on the mask, as the steam is too hot. But overall, great product. Small, and gets the job done!

Steam generation was less vigorous than i hoped for - but at least repeated use does NOT redden your face or nose. Huge downside is needs specialized & Expensive medicated pads - 6 for $7 . Will not let us use regular Vicks or liquid vicks medicated additive. Anyone looking for just steam should be the only one buying. Otherwise should pass. Smaller in size than expected ...

It is a good product overall, but you can't use anything except KAZ pads with this product. I have a cold and I want to use some medications (liquid and drops), but it doesn't allow to put anything into the water. Also it comes only with 1 menthol pad, so make sure that you ordered them as well. It says that you need to use more than 1 pad or put 1 pad into the water under the cup. Also you can't use them more than once. Pack of 6 pads is $7. It is the same system like with toners for printers. Even if the printer is cheap, toner will eat all the money.
