much better than chemical acne treatments

I have very sensitive skin and have been prone to breakouts since I was about 13 (I'm now in my mid-20s). I have tried every acne treatment under the sun, including prescriptions, and have always found that after a few uses, my skin gets red and raw and incredibly dried out. On a whim, I bought this blemish stick and found that it works wonders on larger pimples/breakouts. It doesn't leave my skin too dry, and I can even apply it 2-3 times a day for it to work faster. After the first use, I noticed that my skin was clearer!
The smell is a bit strong, but I don't find that it's any stronger than other acne treatments...and at least it smells like herbs rather than chemicals! |
Way underrated

An warning right off - I do not have "extremely troubled" skin (probably because I wash and wash!). But I do still suffer from plenty of occasional breakouts. I decided to pick this up when I'd become impressed with all other Burt's Bees products I'd come across. I had a few icky areas, rubbed on some of the blemish stick, and in only a few HOURS I returned to the mirror to see the area beginning to heal, and heal beautifully.
The negatives - the roller ball that you use to apply it doesn't roll very easily for some reason. I usually have trouble getting it started so have to work it on the back of my hand. The smell is also not pleasant at all, somewhat like licorice. But I just put a lotion on over it to cover it up and it's not too bad. Also, this will not work on any areas that aren't full-blown blemishes yet. (It doesn't seem to prevent a breakout, only heal it.)
Overall, I'm a very satisfied customer. |
It works miracles for me!

| I got a mini version of this in a Burt's Bee's sampled sized combo pack. It does smell stongly of black licorice, but only until it dries (under a minute). It is liquid, not at all greasy (a little drying as the liquid evaporates). It Dries up my blemishes usually within a day (or at least shrinks them and lessens the redness). It's very helpful for me (I have fairly normal skin now and only occasional pimples - not full blown acne). I'm glad I found this online, because I can't find it in stores in my area. I have recommended this to my sister. |
Wow!

| I bought this originally at Target on a spending spree for myself. I loved it. It greatly reduces pimples and fast! The only problem is my boyfriend loves it too, so we quickly run out. The smell isn't bad, especially if you are a normal user of burts bees products. |
Fantastic

I'll admit it...grown-ups get breakouts, too. When I do, I use this stuff. I usually dab a little on before I to bed, and after I've showered before I go to work. Any blemishes or breakouts I get are flat gone in 2-3 days, sometimes sooner. The smell does take some getting used to. It's not a bad smell, just inexplicalbe.
But it's worthe the results |

| I've been using Burts Bees Blemish Stick for over a year and I love it. I've had pimple problems since I was in my early teens and nothing worked. Because of the herbal blemish stick, they are barely noticable and I rarely have breakouts. |

| I'm not often bothered by acne until that time of the month when my hormones start acting strange. I got this little stick as part of a gift pack and decided to give it a try. Normally I use cotton balls soaked in peroxide on my zits to clear them, but this little beauty did a better job of getting rid of the little sucker in a shorter period of time. I love the smell because I can't tolerate anything with a perfume type stench. I love knowing that this item is 99% natural. |
I really like it

I have used this product for about a year, sparingly. I have frequent breakouts and have found this to definitely help on those really bad painful pimples! It does sting very slightly but to me thats a good sign that it is working! I dont mind the smell, I actually enjoy it. I have read reviews about the roller ball not working very well... I seem to have the opposite problem. Sometime the one I have leaks too much when I apply and drips down my face.
After I apply to a pimple for a day it stops hurting and the redness greatly diminishes... I believe it really does help my pimples heal faster and not many things do especially for the price!
Also I am pregnant so I am able to use it on my face which is HUGE! |

| I don't really suffer from terrible acne, but every once in a while I need to hide the mountain forming on my face. This was given to me in a Burt's Bees gift basket, so I whipped it out and rubbed some on, not thinking that it would actually do anything. Lo and behold, the pimple had dried up the very next day, flattened out and clearly shrunk. It works consistently, and I actually like the smell. |
would buy again

i've been using this on and off since i got it a couple of months ago but recently i've been using it every day for blemishes on my face. it doesn't dry out my skin and although pimples don't disappear right away i've noticed they seem to be healing faster than usual.
it comes in a cute little stick with a ball applicator for easy application--perfect for if you want to just bring it with you on the go.
as for the smell, i actually really like the smell of herbal-ey things. some people may find it difficult to stand because it's so strong but i like the smell of burt's bees products or any natural product for that matter. if you are more into smells like aroma therapy or soft fragrances then this isn't the product for you. |
One for every cosmetic bag ~ SIMPLY WONDERFUL ~ sensitive skin take CAUTION

This product goes on with the use of the rollerball applicator. It needs to be applied ONLY to a cleansed FRESH face. ~~~~If you just use it whenever, you will CONTAMINATE the entire vial. Thus making a big BACTERIA collection inside the whole little glass vial.
~~BECAREFUL if you have SENSITIVE skin it will burn a little and sting from the alcohol content after application. Avoid the eye and inner nose areas.
~~It does effectivly prevent blemishes. Refreshing is the overall smell. |

| Doctor Burt's herbal Blemish stick is great for keeping scary-skin away and for heading off pending pimples. It has a roller-ball applicator, so you can just whip it out of your purse or pocket and apply as often as you would like. It goes on clear and evaporates quickly, so no one would really notice what your are doing if you are applying out in public. (which I do) It has tea tree oil, which is good for your skin and it has a nice "herbal" scent. Finally, unlike other acne products, it does not dry out your skin. Enjoy! |

| I'm still a little up in the air over this product. I have suffered from acne on my chin (sometimes cystic) as well as very sensitive skin for the past 15 years. Antibiotics, Accutane, prescription ointments, over the counter products and Proactiv have all had little to no effect. Recently I had a big breakout that spread to my cheeks as well. My usual ointments were having no effect and since I've been trying to switch to all natural products, I picked up this blemish stick. I like the smell - it's pungent but very natural/herbal. After one use, I woke up the next morning and my acne had significantly dried up. However, after my initial breakout started to fade, I kept getting little whiteheads, which is unusual for me, and some dry spots that wouldn't go away. Much better than large pimples, but a nuisance all the same. I have continued to use this product whenever I feel a zit coming on. So far, it has kept the big breakouts at bay. I think the small whiteheads and dry spots may be due to my sensitive skin reacting to this product. I would recommend it to anyone who is frustrated with other anti-acne products. It's definitely worth a try! |

| I love this product! I can zap a zit and it will shrink fast. It's also good for minor skin irritation. I am trying it with my teenage son for his acne, and when he remembers to use it, it's very effective. |

| I have used this product on a couple of blemishes (I don't get them that often) but I applied the product as soon as I noticed the blemish and the next day the blemish was almost gone! I have used The Body Shop's Tea Tree oil in the past, and this works even better! I am glad I bought it! |

I've had acne since the 8th grade and I am now a senior in college. Though my acne is not as severe as it used to be, I still get it. This stuff actually works! I was amazed. I got a free sample in the mail and had to get the retail size. I am on my 2nd one. It does have a potent smell. I would say that 85% of my acne reduces or goes away after using this before I go to bed.
only 4 stars because of smell and it could be a little cheaper for such a small amount. |
It works slowly but surely.

| This is not by any means a miracle acne treatment, but it does help to dry up blemishes so they can heal on their own faster. It does have a strong smell when you just put it on, but after a few seconds it dries and the odor goes away. Since I'm a big fan of Burt's Bees' products I would prefer to use this over a chemical-laden product, even if it doesn't work as fast to heal my pimples. It really all comes down to personal choice; if you prefer to use an organic blemish stick, I say go for it! |

I purchased this product because of some of the really good reviews.
I suffer from moderate/severe acne and I thought I would give this a try.
The smell is very very very strong, and it stays with your for quite some time. This product did'nt do much for my skin. I used it for three weeks and I didn't notice much of a difference.
Oh well, it may have worked for some people but it did not work for me. |

| This product was really disappointing. I've read rave reviews for it, so I thought I'd give it a try, but it did absolutely nothing for my skin. The smell didn't bother me. (The tea tree oil smell is very strong.) However, my six year old remarked, "Mom! The awful smell of you!" after I had just put it on. So it's not the most enchanting fragrance. Some people say it really burns when you put it on, but that only happened to me after I had used an astringent first. (So be warned... DO NOT use this product after using an astringent.) That was extremely painful. It might work for some, but it did absolutely nothing to clear my skin, so I really don't recommend it. |

I figured my skin would be less irritated if I stopped using so much benzoyl peroxide for a while and switch to something more "natural" for my blemishes. I picked this up on a whim, and had high hopes for it.
I must say I was very disappointed. I used it for several weeks. It would burn and sting on my face. I thought it would just be a side-effect that would eventually subside, but I just couldn't take it anymore. It had no affect on my pimples at all. The smell of it isn't so pleasant either.
I guess it's back to a benzoyl peroxide treatment for me. |
Not effective at all...

Sorry to give it only one star, but this product did not help me at all!!
Smell is not pleasent(but I tolerated it hoping it would see some change), little greasy, and worst of all, the roll is painful to apply on red pimples!! And you really have to press and roll in up and down in order to get some liquid out of it.
Would never buy this again! |

I'm no cosmetic expert. In fact I have absolutely zero interest in cosmetics (and don't even wear them) so you know I'm not someone who buys beauty products for fun and for the novelty of it. But I live in the desert where the dry air desiccates your skin so I sometimes have to pick up product for skin care. I got attracted to the Burt's Bees products via their cute and creative in-store displays and then ending up trying a wide range of their products.
I have an additional problem when it comes to beauty products: my face is always oily and prone to break-outs. So I gave this product one cautious try. The other reviewers are right: it has an icky smell. Plus it has a greasy feel.
I wouldn't recommend this. Take it from someone who knows blemishes (I assume they're talking about acne here). Don't put a questionable, and somewhat greasy feeling herbal substance on your break-outs. Go to the drugstore and get yourself an inexpensive, non-prescription tube of benzoyl peroxide instead. |
Smells ssoooo bad!

| I'm currently using this all-natural product because I'm pregnant and can't use harsher acne products for my lovely hormonal breakouts. However, if I wasn't nauseous enough, this product makes it 10 times worse! My husband can smell it when I get in bed, and declared it smells like "licorice and feet." I only use it if a breakout is really bad, and I've had a pretty good non-nauseated day. |
