great for plantar fascitis

purchased this splint based on price, reviews , and because a night splint is the dr. recommended treatment for plantar fascitis.
I got size (m) and it fits me perfect. (I'm size 10) would go up to (L) if your 11 shoe size or bigger. the splint is very light, comfortable, sturdy, and is easy to strap on and off. straps are pretty easy to adjust but could be better. I wore it only at night for about a month and it has healed my plantar entirely. (bugged me little the first 2 nights but then got use to it and slept like a baby) I also did calf stretches and limited my activities to walking during the month I wore the splint. dr showed my the stretches but you can just google stretches for plantar fascitis if your on a budget.
highly recommend this splint. cant be beat it for comfort, price, and effectiveness! |

| This night splint is fabulous, so far! I've been wearing it for a few weeks now and it seems to be doing the job. I don't have morning heel pain anymore and it only starts hurting late in the day. I'm hoping that in a couple of months my foot will be totally healed. |
Extensive Plantar Faciitis Review
|
| Review Date: June 21, 2010 |
| Reviewer: Dustin R., Hoboken, NJ |
I'm going to make this as extensive as possible to try and help others out. I wish someone had told me what I know now.
I've been suffering from plantar fasciitis for about 5 months now in my right foot. About a year ago I noticed the fallen arch in my right foot and began experiencing knee pain related to the flat foot. I've been wearing Super Feet insoles since then and everything seemed fine. After a long period of flip-flop wearing and running, I developed PF in the same foot and have been in pretty incredible pain since then. I went to my podiatrist who gave me a cortisone injection and for about a week my foot was fine. The pain slowly started back and unfortunately my whole leg began to hurt because of the odd way I was walking to prevent the pain.
After doing some online research and with the blessing from my podiatrist that my insoles were great I began a buying binge on Amazon for any and all potential cures. I tried the 5-minute PF solution, heel cups, archxercizer, and pro-stretch. I did not have any luck with the archxercizer, heel cups, PF solution. I'm not saying anyone else won't, but simply they didn't work for me. The heel cups weren't hitting the right spot, the PF solution didn't give me the feeling I was supposed to be experiencing from the stretches, and the archxerciser was just awkward.
The pro-stretch did provide short term relief by stretching out my calf, but the pain would usually creep back within a few minutes. This also didn't alleviate the terrible first step out of bed pain that typically accompanies PF. I've been trying this night splint for about a week and while I originally had a lot of problems getting the fit right, has been wonderful. The first time I wore it, my foot kept going numb because of pressure from the straps. I encourage you to keep at it, eventually you'll find the fit that lets you sleep all night with it on. I've now had three pain free morning that lead to fairly pain free days after wearing the night splint. No pain walking around in the morning and continued throughout the day. I can't tell you how thrilled I am by the results. It's a bit soon to write this review, since I don't know how long I'll have to continue to wear before the results stick. Rest assured if my thoughts on this product dip at all, I will revise.
Hope this helps. |

| I have tried several night splints for my plantar fascitis. This one is by far the most comfortable to wear and the easiest to put on. It takes a little while to find the right "settings" for the straps. At first I had trouble with my foot falling asleep or aching. But once I got the straps set right it was easy due to the quick-release buckles. And the ability to adjust the angle of the stretch is the best feature of all! |

| Excellant product for streching the Fascia. The more open design is cooler and more comfortable than the soft material designs. Excellant price and aq greqat value. Compasres with splints costing 3 to 4 times the price. Very quick service and delivery from the supplier. |

| I bought this foot brace as a last resort for plantar facitis pain. I have tried heat/cold therapies, chiropractic, stretching exercises, wearing hard soled shoes, many, many shoe inserts - you name it, I've tried it. I've had heel pain for nearly 10 months and was about to pull my hair out from the constant pain/tenderness. I read reviews for several types of boots and decided most people seemed to like this one the best - also fewest complaints. A plus was that it wasn't extremely expensive. WELL - I should have ordered this boot first - then I wouldn't have needed all the other items! I have worn it for 6 nights or so and can't believe the improvement in my heel. This morning I could walk on my foot with NO pain - still a tad tender, but not PAINFUL!! UNBELIEVABLE IMPROVEMENT!! I would highly recommed this boot. It took a couple nights to get used to it - my foot was not used to being "stretched"; and I had to readjust the velcro so as not to rub on my skin. But it is SO wonderful to find something that actually works! This is my most favorite "shoe" in the world right now! For anyone else thinking they have no choice but to suffer, order this boot. It is worth EVERY cent. I am not one to gush over products, but this one deserves it. |

*** I'm putting this review on all sizes of this product, sorry for any redundancy. I'm hoping it will be helpful for anyone considering it ***
I have been wearing this splint for about a month now to combat a pretty severe case of plantar fasciitis and want to update you on the effectiveness and my experience with it. My plantar fasciitis was caused primarily by weighing too darn much, plus moving into a house with mostly hardwood floors and walking around barefoot/in socks without foot support. I had never heard of the injury until it was too late.
First of all the product. I started out with the medium size based on my shoe size but my toes stuck out over the edge and my foot felt kind of squished so I switched to the large. My foot size is "around" 10 or so, I would suggest going to the large if you have any question.
How I adjusted the straps. The top strap keeps the thing from sliding up and down and as such I have that one somewhat tight. The middle strap (goes kind of over your ankle) is important in that it keeps your foot in the proper position. If too loose, your foot can position so that the ligament is not stretched properly and can tighten overnight. So I tighten this strap as much as comfortable so that my ankle can't bend and separate from the device much. If you find you can point your toes downward, then this strap is probably too loose. The bottom strap (over the top of your foot) is not as important in positioning as long as the middle ankle strap is correct, and I have that one quite loose. The bottom one if too tight is very uncomfortable and cuts off circulation in my case. As far as the side straps, pull them tighter to increase the stretch, generally just a gentle stretch is all you need. If you change these side straps much, you will need to adjust the other 3. This is just what finally worked fairly comfortably and effectively for me, your experience might be different. I definitely agree it does take some getting used to.
Effectiveness - I had immediate relief for that "first step" in the morning. I was able get out of bed and walk normally where before using this product I was hopping around on my good foot for about 5 minutes. I could not put any weight at all on my bad foot. My foot pain was not entirely gone, but felt just "normal" as though it was during the day. I also now have orthotics designed for plantar fasciitis in every pair of shoes/slippers I own (fortunately I am male so that is not many ;-)..) and am very careful not to walk on any non-cushioned surface without these orthotics.
Is my injury "fixed"? Not yet. I think if I were to go a night without this splint I would still be in a lot of pain in the morning. So this has reduced/eliminated that problem but I still have to wear it and of course the goal is a "cure" and no longer needing to wear it. I have a feeling that overall my problem is improving, and if I continue to wear the orthotics and use this product it MIGHT over time go away. It took a long time to get the injury and I'm just trying to be patient in my self-treatment of it. At some point I may see a podiatrist but for right now this is sufficient.
I'll update this review if I have any major breakthroughs.
In the meantime, I would recommend it highly at least for relief of morning pain. |
Worked great -- Thank you for the relief

I suffered from plantar frascitis for 12 months after an 18 mile race in 2009. After 5 days of use of this product I no longer experience pain and am back on the road 20+ miles per week. I can only say that I highly recommend this solution to anyone who is experiencing this frustrating problem.

Well built splint

| It took only one night to get a comfortable fit. Very sturdy and goes on easily. Have had two other splints that just were too weak and at night my foot would slip down. Foot feels much better after 3 nights of use. Only small criticism is the plastic clips are a bit annoying if your other foot is resting on the splint for awhile. Great price and great product. |

Works/cheap

Works well and is a very sturdy splint. It is also far cheaper than many of the other offerings (which can be $50+). It doesn't have the most padding, but such can be rectified by wearing a nice pair of wool socks. They do work to stretch out your plantar fascia and Achilles tendon. Obviously if an over tightness isn't what is causing your plantar fascitus (for example you are severely overweight/over protonate) these will not work and you would be best served by losing weight or getting orthodics.
Not that it matters, but the ones I ordered were a different color than shown (gray/black rather than blue/black).

Eased heel pain just by wearing device during evening

| I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to sleep while wearing a boot so I eased into it by wearing for a few hours during the evening. I was amazed that after the first use that my heel was not sore in the morning. So, I've only been using it during the evening and my plantar fascitis has improved significantly. It's not gone, but close. I recommend this device along with wearing proper support in their shoes to anybody with this condition. |

I developed Plantar Fasciitis while training for a marathon, and it put me out of training. Subsequently began carrying mail for the USPS, walking with a pack 5-6 days a week, 6-7 hours per day. The heel pain was excruciating and I had to do something.
I ordered some arch supports that strap on your feet inside your shoes, and some Spenco heel supports for my other walking shoes. The shoe inserts relieved some of the daily pain, but there was no improvement, so I ordered this splint. When the thing arrived I strapped it on the first night and have used it every night since, for about 3 weeks. I am still using the shoe inserts as well.
The improvement was minor, as they represent, but immediate. Each day gets just a little bit better. I have no idea if I'll ever run again, but this has me up and walking every day without the pain, just minor twinges as my feet get tired. I don't take my first step out of bed and have that pain either. It seems a little cumbersome at first, but both my wife and I got used to it right away.

Pain Free for the First Time in a Year
|
| Review Date: April 9, 2010 |
| Reviewer: davetradedave, Middletown, NY |
Thanks for the previous reviews to convince me to purchase this product. I have achilles tendonitis and a heel spur on my left foot. The pain is (was) an inch from the bottom of my heel just left of center.
I have had days recently where I limped all day because of the pain. I have been wearing the brace at night for about 4 weeks. I have had several 'pain free' days in the past week for the first time in a year. The first steps out of bed are just 'tender' at worst.
The brace is slightly awkward in bed but you get used to it. I keep the velvro super loose because of comfort and it still works like a champ.
This product has done more for me in 4 weeks than sixteen 45-minutes sessions of physical therapy.
I'm a coach, balloonist, and 38 year old school teacher and am pumped up about the prospect of lots of physical activity with my 4 and 6 year old kids again. Wow. |

| Who'd thunk that a simple device like this would work wonders! I've been having heel pain for awhile before I bought this just from over use from playing a lot of sports. After the pain meds stopped working I dreaded waking up. A friend told me about night splints so I did my homework and decided to go with this model. After the first night I wore it and took my first step, I notice a considerable decrease in heel pain. I've been using this for 3 weeks now and right now the pain is like a sore muscle so I know that it'll take a few more months of wearing this along with the stretching exercises I do during my workouts. Now to wear this comfortably, strap adjustment is key. For me, adjusting the middle strap to where your heel stays planted is key. I notice if my heel moves away from the cup of the splint I'll have a bit more pain than the night before. Also, my body runs hot and the liner on this splint retains heat so my foot would swell overnight. I keep the foot strap just snug enough so when my foot swells it'll be comfortable. |
Week 1...so far so good!!!

I've had PF for 6-7 months. I can't seem to beat it. I'm a runner and ABSOLUTELY HATE not being able to go jogging, or walking or anything without pain. It sucks.
I ordered this brace after reading the reviews.
I've worn the brace now for 3 nights, and already there is no pain when I get out of bed in the morning. Although I still have pain as I go through the day. I'm hoping with time it will go away completely. Overall, it's been a great product so far. The other posters on here are correct in what they said..
I will update my progress on here for others to read.
Good luck!

Relief from PF pain at last
|
| Review Date: July 23, 2010 |
| Reviewer: L. Johnson, Cocoa, FL |
| I am SO very glad I purchased this splint! After months of PF pain, I have gotten improvement every day after a month of use. I will probably not take up running again out of fear of getting the pain again, but otherwise my life has returned to normal and I can walk on the afflicted foot without wanting to scream! When the pain first started I tried stretching exercises and ice, which helped some but did not take the pain away. After a few weeks of that I decided to try the Futuro splint, mostly because it was readily available at my local CVS. It was comfortable to sleep in and it helped some, too, but I reached a plateau after a few days in which I received no further improvement. I figured that I was going to need something that would flex my foot more than the Futuro would, and this B&C splint worked perfectly. It was initially annoying to sleep in, but I got used to it after a few days. The annoyance is a small price to pay for the healing and the pain reduction that I have gotten. I discovered that it felt most uncomfortable and woke me up when I was trying to point my toes - the thing that the splint is designed to prevent one from doing. I had to tell myself in my sleepy state to stop trying to point my toes, and that must have worked because I sleep fine with it now. I highly recommend this splint. |

I've had the product for a few weeks. Prior to purchasing this product, I felt some pain in the morning when I would take my first few steps. Since I began using this product, my pain in the morning is gone.
The first night I wore the splint, it was a little uncomfortable. After a few days I was used to it and don't pay much attention to it.
Pros: Easy to adjust, light weight, price
Cons: Back of leg/foot can get a little warm, takes a few night to get accustomed to wearing the splint |

| I bought this splint after reading the reviews of several styles of plantar fasciitis night splints. The product was exactly as advertised and arrived promptly. I found that it was immediately helpful for the pain I was experience when trying to walk in the morning. The splint did need several "tweaks" to get the straps adjusted to both hold the foot in place AND be bearable. It also took some patience to adjust to, as you might expect. All in all, I have been very pleased with the product and heartily recommend it to anyone suffering from plantar fasciitis. |

| I was originally concerned that this inexpensive night splint would somehow not work as well as the more costly ones, but I am overall satisfied. It is well designed, but there was one problem with the manufacturing: the Velcro sewn onto 2 of the 3 retaining straps did not allow the straps to be adjusted tightly enough. I happen to have a sewing machine, so I moved the Velcro, but others may not be able to do this as conveniently. It's difficult to walk with a night splint on, but it takes just a few seconds to remove it or to put it back on. I have size 10 feet, so I ordered the medium size, but my toes stuck out the front of the device just a bit. The large size may have been better for me. |
Helped me, but could be better

| This splint is a bit tough to fit. If you fit it too snug, your heel rises (which is the opposite of what you're trying to get), and the toes get numb. Still, it really did help me a lot. I don't want to plant false hope in anyone, but it's night and day the way my heel feels now as opposed to pre-splint. So I would say get a splint for sure; if it's this one, then size up (it runs very small); and don't fit it too tight. Good luck. |

| This item got good reviews so I thought it was worth a try. The adjustments are great but if I make it tight enough to keep my foot in the correct position my foot would fall asleep. It's cumbersome to sleep in. My plantar fascitis has improved though so I'll continue using it. |

| I have plantar fasciitis. After the first night of wearing this splint my heel felt didn't hurt in the morning like it had been. Though, later on, after my shift at work (I'm on my feet the whole time) my heel was in pain yet again. I continued to wear the splint and it would be the same situation every time: relief in the morning, pain at the end of the day. The splint itself fits rather nicely. I had no trouble adjusting the straps to fit around my leg and foot. The only drawback is that it's awkward to sleep in. I wake up with my body in strange positions because of it. I think this splint combined with a really good pair of orthodics will make for better relief of heel pain. |

After multiple attempts throughout a couple weeks of ownership, I could not get this adjusted right to balance out comfort with effectiveness.
It's built pretty well and such, but for something like this, you really need one that covers your entire foot instead of straps that place all the pressure in one contained area. Every morning, I woke up with my foot numb, or with my foot in a position where it wasn't stretched as it should have been. |
Not as adjustable as it should be
|
| Review Date: August 24, 2010 |
| Reviewer: c0rwyn, |
| I can't get the straps all adjusted snug so the pressure isn't distributed evenly. I can tighten the shin strap fine, but the ones across the ankle and top of the foot won't snug up enough. This makes for uncomfortable pressure points and makes it hard to sleep. I've tried to sleep in them for over a week now, but I keep on ripping them off halfway through the night so I can get at least a few hours. Think of trying to sleep in ill fitting ski boots and you won't be far off the mark. You would think something made specifically for sleeping in would be more adjustable and comfortable. There are wide 'cushions' sewn into the strap to keep the it from chaffing (see pic), but it is those same cushions that keep you from being able to cinch the strap up tight for good support. My feet want to press down and the strap across the top of the foot takes all the brunt of the force. I'm sure there are better splints out there. |
Really uncomforable
